Is your programme eligible for financial aid?

Yes! We are a fully accredited school, and as such, we can offer an array of financial assistance programmes to fit most budgets and credit situations. If you are unable to pay tuition in full, call us at 285.203.110. A Recording Connection Financial Aid Counselor will work with you to find a suitable financial package and handle your paperwork at no charge.

If for some reason you do not qualify for student loans or similar aid, we also offer several in-house financing payment plans, in which we can spread payments over a period of time for a modest down payment. We can work with most budgets, so as long as you’ve been at least covering your bills, we can qualify you for one of these programmes. Simply call the Recording Connection at 285.203.110, and we’ll help work out a plan to suit your needs.

Does the Recording Connection charge any up-front application fees, or any other fees besides the tuition?

What is your policy regarding refunds?

View our refund policy here.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Recording Connection Audio Institute is fully accredited by the NPSAA (National Private School Accreditation Alliance) and the USBAS (United States Bureau of Accredited Schools).

Where is your campus located?

Our corporate headquarters is in Los Angeles, California, on the famed corner of Hollywood and Vine. However, because of our unique educational method, we have no dedicated “campus.” As a Recording Connection student, your “classroom” will be in a real-life recording studio, located generally within an hour of your residence (or in pretty much any other city or town of your choosing). So in a manner of speaking, we are literally located all over the world!

How long has Recording Connection been in business?

Our unique recording and audio engineering programme has been offered since 1983, and we continually update our programme to stay current with the times.

How long is the programme?

The core curriculum of our audio engineering programme is designed to be completed in six months (although part time, night and weekends are available, and in most cases we can accommodate flexible scheduling). After the initial course is complete, we offer an additional year of job assistance instruction, for a total of 18 months of education.

What is Your Classroom Size?

Two—if you include the instructor. Recording Connection ALWAYS instructs students one-on-one. One mentor to one apprentice.

What Job Placement Assistance do you Offer?

All Recording Connection graduates are automatically enrolled in our Stay Connected Programme, our unique 20-lesson job assistance programme. This continuing education and assistance is included in the tuition rate.

How does your programme compare with that other audio schools?

Comparing the quality of education, we stand up to our competitors quite well. However, when it comes to tuition and job placement, we far surpass our competition. Our educational method is unique among recording schools because instead of placing 20 or more students in a classroom with one teacher (who is usually a non-working professional), we place each student with one instructor (mentor) in a real recording studio for one-on-one training. Our mentor/instructors are all working music industry professionals who have a track record of success in the music industry.

Comparing our tuition with that of other schools—we are consistently around 75% lower. Comparing our success rate—currently we see 72% of our graduates go on to gainful music industry jobs within their first year of graduation (and many get hired even before they graduate).

What prior education or experience is required for your programme?

None. We have no minimum education or work experience requirements for our audio engineering programme.

What are the age requirements?

None; we accept people of all ages into the programme. (We’ll need parent or guardian approval for students under 18.)

WHAT ABOUT WORKING A JOB? CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE MY SCHEDULE?

The Recording Connection audio engineering/music producing programme can be taken full time, part time, nights or weekends. Because you’ll be learning one-on-one from a mentor, the scheduling is extremely flexible with our programme, so yes, you can work around your job.

WILL I HAVE TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE/BOOKS/EQUIPMENT?

No. We include everything you need in the cost of tuition, including all curriculum, software. You’ll even get your own full version of Pro Tools to keep, at no additional charge.

CAN I TRANSFER TO A DIFFERENT MENTOR IF I HAVE TO MOVE DURING MY PROGRAMME?

Yes, in most cases we can transfer you to a new mentor if you have not been excessively missing classes. The number of lessons already completed may also be a factor, but we will do our best to accommodate transfer requests.

FOR WHAT REASONS MIGHT MY APPLICATION BE DENIED?

We base our acceptance or denial of any student solely upon that student’s passion, work ethic, and motivation, based on what we encounter during the interview process.

How do I apply?

You can apply online (preferred), or you can speak with an Admissions Counselor by calling 800-755-7597 or 310-456-9623.

What kind of credentials or accreditation does your school have?

All of Recording Connections programmes, instuctors, and professional workplace classrooms are recognized and accredited by The United States Bureau of Accredited Schools (USBAS). Additionally, the National Private School Accreditation Alliance recognises The Recording Connection as a fully accredited private college.
